It was a project brought to us by the RSA Films and The Filmmaster.
This 6-day shoot took place on a barley field not far from the capital Riga.

After weeks and weeks of scouting an ideal location was found. It had the scale, barley of the right height and most importantly a clear horizon line facing west so that the perfect clear sunset could be enjoyed. The idea was to find a location of this kind and film for the duration of the “magic hours” to achieve a “dreamy & melancholic” look and feel of the film. Luckily Latvia offers about 4 hours of magic light in the summer months of June, July & August.

The art department job involved prepping the 38000 of artificial flowers specially ordered from China and then planting them into the solid ground without damaging the barley.

The local SFX department worked closely with the supervisor from Asylum London. Their main job was to create a special ripple and wave wind effects on the flowers and the model and coordinate the wire-works.

Apart from that there was also a blue screen where we shot a number of plates and different SFX elements for the post.

The model was Abbey Lee Kershaw.

We rehearsed the camera and crane moves, cast performance as well as special effects during the day and shot in the evening in the rays of beautiful evening sun.

The result is an unusual and beautifully done spot which at the moment can be viewed here.
